EVS

Finland is something different, special. It has nothing to do with anything I’m used to. I love to experience this particular Europe, multi-faceted and polyhedric. I love to feel I belong to something in common with other volunteers. Here, we’re not Italian, French, English or Finnish, we are young citizens in something broader than a country. Not the common currency, not the Schengen treaty make us one: what brings us together is the belief we can bild our future on a shared ground.

Even if I don’t have a good command of English, I love it, I love the idea of a language that cross over the boundaries, I love to see people that put so much effort to learn it. It means that the need to get in touch, to get to know the “Other” is a common need. We won’t be satisfied with our own little country, because we learnt everyone has something to teach us.
